From today, Knaresborough will be a hive of activities and events as the annual Festival of Visual Arts and Entertainment begins.
A huge range of entertainment is taking place across Knaresborough for adults and children. The full programme can be viewed here.
The Arts Trail includes a wide range of different art forms. There is a Picnic in the Park on 18th August in the grounds of Knaresborough House. There will be music from a number of local artists. Bring your own picnic, chairs, brollies and sunscreen.
The Beer Festival will run from 17th to 19th August between 12 noon and 11pm, also in the grounds of Knaresborough House.
There is plenty for children to do as well. Highlights include a Scarecrow trail, crafts, story telling and lots more. Henshaws have created an Urban Beach and there will be "The Singing Mermaid" storytime (booking essential) as well as a March of the Mermaids on 18th August. Go to Henshaws Urban Beach dressed as a mermaid, merman or pirate. The gossip (group of mermaids) will be assembling at 3pm before departing on a short guided march.There will be a prize for the best dressed mermaid and best dressed pirate. There will be mermaid themed craft activities taking place at the centre from 11am and a “Diversity Disco” after the march.
Every year businesses in Knaresborough get into the feva spirit and dress up their windows in all shades of pink. The feva committee vote for their favourite windows and the one that gets the most points is declared the winner in the Best Dressed Premises Competition.
