Q61 is a luxury nail and beauty studio which recently opened in Albert Street, Harrogate. The salon offers nails, waxing, brows, lashes and more. And more is really what this salon provides. Every part of the spacious studio has been carefully designed to reflect a passion for customer service and a strong client focus.
Whilst beauty is central to the salon’s offerings, it is above all, a lifestyle salon, providing a superior salon experience to all its clients on every visit. The second salon in a growing portfolio, the Harrogate studio has a unique set of baby friendly features including a pram parking area and a baby feeding room. The
feeding room is beautifully appointed with a comfortable chair and finished to the same exacting and luxurious standard as the rest of the salon. It provides a discreet, relaxing space in which to tend to the needs of children. Recognising that difficulties in sourcing childcare can often prevent mums with young children from enjoying a visit to the salon, Q61 sets aside a selection of appointment times where mums can bring their children with them to beauty appointments. The staff are also trained to understand the limitations of pregnancy and know which treatments are fully safe during the various stages of pregnancy, allowing them to provide a first class pampering service to expectant mums.
At other times the salon caters to those who would like to experience a calm and relaxing, child-free environment. Men are not excluded with a variety of male grooming treatments on offer at the salon. In short, a huge amount of thought has gone into creating a salon which meets the needs of a wide range of customers and tailors the experience to match their lifestyle at every point in the customer journey.
The upper floor houses luxurious treatment rooms, beautifully appointed with a calm and relaxing vibe. The large nail salon and coffee bar are on the ground floor. The coffee bar serves specialist coffees, freshly brewed teas, including herbal teas, as well as delicious biscuits.
This is the second salon set up by husband and wife team, Michael and Helena Linsky. The first, in Leeds, was set up four years ago. Both salons are driven by the owners’ passion for customer service and fashion. The reception area features wall art affirming these values and the team of beauty technicians and therapists were chosen for their top notch customer service and technical skills.
Fashion books are beautifully displayed within a chic purple wall. Video of catwalk shows projected on the salon's walls further emphasise the fashion theme.
Throughout the salon the link between high fashion and beauty is emphasised. Perhaps nowhere more so than in the Colour Runway. This showcases the range of beautiful OPI nail products which the salon uses and includes over 150 carefully chosen nail shades which are updated regularly in line with catwalk colour trends. The very latest collection of OPI colours and finishes are available in addition to the standard colour range. Add in the glitters, special finishes and nail art, and you cannot fail to find something to suit you whether your look is classic or more fashion forward.
From the moment I walked through the door, the team at Q61 were really welcoming. On arrival I was offered Prosecco, coffee or tea and the most divine cup cakes. I had to pass on the Prosecco as I was driving but I certainly did not pass up the opportunity of a cup cake, which I understand were from Mama Doreen’s and were just as delicious as they look. And yes, there is sparkly glitter on the strawberries.
I was offered a tour of the salon which is spacious and beautifully appointed. I must admit I did love the purple and cream décor which is both smart and relaxing at the same time.
After a lovely chat with owners Michael and Helena Linsky I was whisked away by Tess for a gel manicure. I spent rather a long time choosing my nail colour from the runway of shades but eventually settled on a gorgeous dark red shade named “I’m not really a waitress” I don’t have great nails and have been trying to grow them after decades of nail biting. Naturally, most of my nails had decided to break over the last two weeks and I only had two decent length nails left. Tess rose to the challenge though, working wonders on my poor nails and advising me that the gel will actually protect the nails and help them to grow. My nails were all trimmed short to make them look more even and then Tess set to on my cuticles, advising me very politely that a bit of extra cuticle oil, regularly applied, might not go amiss. Apparently I had not been being quite generous enough in this area. Luckily, my goodie bag contained OPI cuticle oil alongside a very cool Vogue colouring book and nail magazine so I have no excuse for dried out cuticles when I return to have the gels replaced.
Whilst chatting to Tess about which treatments and nail techniques she most enjoyed doing, my love of glitter was discovered. At which point, three shades of glitter were fetched and auditioned against my nail colour. I chose the silver as we agreed that it went with my ring. The plan to do one nail with glitter “just to see” lasted all of 1.5 seconds. Once the glitter was on one nail I loved it so much that Tess did all my nails with a glitter fade effect. Nothing was too much trouble and I think Tess might have been almost as excited as I was about the glitter.
I am so pleased with my lovely red, glittery nails. The staff were lovely, the salon luxurious, the customer service top notch. The whole evening was a really enjoyable experience.
Thank you to Q61 for inviting me to this wonderful pamper evening and to Tess for looking after me so well. Q61 is more than a salon it is an experience, with the customer at its heart. I will certainly be going back.
