Sausage and Little Legs were invited to Time Together to try out their new sensory room and interactive projector. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what Sausage would make of it, and if she’d be too old – but she LOVED it.
Located near Winkies in Starbeck, Time Together is a charity that provides support and opportunities for individuals with autism, asperger’s and additional needs. Alongside the support work the charity also facilitate various social groups, activity groups and support groups for individuals and families with autism, asperger’s or additional needs. The facilities are also available to hire by members of the general public.
It was lovely and quiet on a Saturday afternoon when we visited. The sensory room is lovely, and both were fascinated by this – even my 5 year old.
However, the huge hit (especially with Sausage) was the projector. Don’t ask me how it works – I have no clue, but it’s seriously clever. There are loads of games that you can play, including educational ones like reading / puzzles, as well as seascapes and musical instruments.
The big hit with my two were the fish, they loved the ripples that appeared when they walked over and the fact that the fish could move and interact with them.
Little Legs loved the musical instruments where you could play a tune whilst walking.
There are disco options where movement fills in bits of the picture – Sausage loves dancing to this and creating patterns.
There are also games where they have to jump on objects, which again they both loved.
We spent a good hour playing, and my two were absolutely whacked afterwards – a sign of a very good time!
