Jennyruth Workshops, a productive workshop where adults who have additional learning needs (also known as Workers) gain independence, confidence, and work and life skills through the creation of handcrafted wooden gifts. At Jennyruth Workshops we like to say “if you can think it; we can make it”. From Morris Dancing Gnomes to an outside wheelchair store, we can create anything to your design and measurements. We can also personalise wooden gifts by engraving names, numbers or images using our laser cutter. Check out our online shop http://jennyruth.co.uk/shop for inspiration.
Due to the current pandemic, our workers have been busy working from home. We’ve put together painting packs so they can still work on products at home and some have even done a spot of woodwork. We run daily Zoom sessions that cover a range of activities similar to what would normally be on offer at the workshops, these include literacy, office skills and communication courses.
Over the past year Covid has had a detrimental impact on many day services and social enterprises. We are therefore determined to highlight the need to support small charities across the country. That’s why we’ve started the ‘Small Fish – Big Pond…Help us help them’ campaign. We are encouraging everyone who works, volunteers or attends a service within the Adult Health and Social Care Support sector to complete this important survey. https://s.surveyplanet.com/r_A16_nGJ .
Our aim is to share the survey results in a press release to highlight how small independent charities across the country often get forgotten and how important it is that sponsorship/support/donations reach grass root level where it is very much needed and makes a massive difference.
If you are a small charity supporting adults who have a learning disability and would like your name mentioned in our press release, please do get in touch, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, as this affects all of us and together we can achieve more.
